Weather can have an enormous impact on your trip to Mexico. Mexico's resort cities are located on the Pacific Coast and Caribbean, so coastal influences on weather have a big impact.
September and October are hurricane season for Cancun, Cozumel and other coastal towns. Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Cozumel and the Riviera Maya all have warm, humid weather most of the year with the best time to visit being December through April.
For a dryer climate, check out the desert and mountain areas of Los Cabos which enjoys 350 days of sun a year, making it an ideal location to visit year round.
Saying Acapulco has perfect weather is almost an understatement. Year-round, this legendary coastal city in the state of Guerrero is blessed with beach-friendly tropical temperatures. The rainy season with brief, tropical rains is May through September, and the winters are dry and sunny. Excellent climate awaits you every month of the year.

The Yucátan peninsula boasts postcard-perfect weather all year long. The rainy season is from May through October, but the rains are usually short and tropical. May through September is the hottest and most humid part of the year, with temperatures reaching in the high 90s.

It's all tropical for this island just off the Cancun coast. During the months of December and January, the weather is very pleasant during the day, but the evenings can get a bit chilly (chilly for the tropics: mid-60s), so bring something long-sleeved. The summers are hot and humid, and May through September is the rainy season. However, rains are short, tropical, and quite refreshing.

Located in the northern state of Baja California Sur, Los Cabos is surrounded by desert and water (both the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez). You can expect some rain from August through November, but sunshine is what defines this area, which boasts 350 days of it a year. May through September is the hottest time of the year. While the weather is mostly pleasant during the whole year, it cools down at night in the winter and spring. If you go to Los Cabos for whale watching, be sure to go in the winter months. For fishing, the summer is best.

You can expect great weather year-round in these idyllic sister cities. It never gets too hot or too cold here. Daytime highs fluctuate by only a few degrees from the mid 80s. Evening lows occasionally dip below 70° F, which is far from cold. Clearly you won't see any snow in this region, but between the months of June and October you might get caught in a sporadic storm, as that's when the tropical rainy season hits. So go ahead and pack plenty of warm-weather clothes, just bring a light sweater or jacket with you in winter.

There aren't very big temperature variations in Mazatlan. Annual daytime highs tend to linger in the low 80s. Summers, which generally run from June to September, boast the hottest temps -- peaking in the low 90s. In winter, the thermometer rarely dips below 75° F during the day and 55° F at night. Humidity is a factor in Mazatlan since this is a coastal city, but it's not overwhelming. In terms of rainfall, Mazatlan tends to stay dry -- however, heavy downpours can occur due to hurricane-like conditions in the months of July and August, and occasionally storms blow in from the U.S. in winter.

Puerto Vallarta is blessed with the great weather that you would expect on the Mexican Pacific coast. Spring and winter are excellent times to visit, but don't forget to bring a jacket for the evenings. Summers are very hot and humid, and you can expect brief afternoon showers in the rainy season that lasts from June through October.
