If you're looking for a rich bit of history, dine at Posada Amor, the oldest restaurant in Puerto Morelos. With over three decades of serving from picnic tables under dense palapas, Posada Amor serves savory Mexican fare like seafood bisque and whole fish. There is also a popular Sunday brunch. Or, if you want a truly unique experience, check out Alux Restaurant and Lounge in nearby Playa del Carmen. After traveling down a candlelit rock stairway, you find the restaurant is located in a cave and is part lounge, part bar, part restaurant and part nightclub.

If you're looking for seafood, look no further than Blue Lobster. You don't order off a menu here—you order from a tank. Though there are small to gigantic lobsters available, there are also other options including steak, ceviche and shrimp.
